Racing Can and Still Does = DEATH Although This One Is A Bit More Unusual

Stupid turns into Death. :(

The incident...

Tony Stewart, a Bass Pro Shops sponsored NASCAR driver, ran over another driver last night during a sprint car race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in New York.

The incident occurred during a Caution in which 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. was bumped and spun into the wall. Immediately afterwards Ward jumped out of his car and began pointing angrily at Tony as he came around again.

It was a car vs. man confrontation with Ward ending up on the losing end. The 20-year-old was pronounced DOA at a local hospital.

In the YouTube, you can see Ward unbuckle, get out of his car and confronting Stewart on foot after Ward's car was run into the wall. He is struck, sucked under the car and then thrown approximately 50 feet.

(1:06 a.m.) - Tyler Graves, a sprint-car racer and friend of Ward's, told Sporting News in a phone interview that he was sitting in the Turn 1 grandstands and saw everything that happened.

“I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars. When Tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. When you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. It set sideways, the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards.”
