Rich Baker, lead designer of the Princes of the Apocalypse adventure for 5e, said during an interview on the Tome Show that WotC was so consistently rejecting white human males in his art instructions that he got the feeling they didn't want any white human males at all. He then explained their (actually rather interesting) response to him.
