Lexus at the 2014 LA Auto Show = RC, NX and LF-C

2015 Lexus NX 300h - $40,625 to start incl. D&H while offering owners a 35/31 mpgUS city/highway combined rating. If it is anything like the Camry, Avalon, and ES 300h hybrids, 40 + lifetime is almost a given.



The luxury brands latest luxury crossover incorporates the marques signature Lexus spindle grille and L-finesse design DNA along with the excellent but updated Camry/Avalon/ES 300h 2.5L Hybrid Drivetrain. And they are offering it as a FWD variant as well!



New to this best-in-class drivetrain is a feature Lexus calls a kick-down function. In addition, the hybrid battery has been split into two separate pods for better weight distribution and even more efficient use of the interior and cargo volume.



Although the 2015 Lexus NX debuts in two versions including a turbocharged 2.0L I4 NX 200t, the very efficient NX 300h hybrid is the only one to consider.



2015 Lexus NX Drivetrain



The 2015 Lexus NX 300h debuts in either Fwd or Lexus E-Four proactive Awd system uses an electric motor to drive the rear axle, while the front axle is propelled by gasoline, electric power, or a mixture of both. It is equipped with the aforementioned award winning atkinsonized 2.5L I4 and HSD while providing the new kick-down feature.



The AWD uses a pre-loaded differential ensuring straight-line stability and acceleration performance under light loads. At higher speeds, it operates as an open differential.



The E-Four system varies torque distribution to the rear wheels, depending on driving dynamics and road conditions, and provides some rear-wheel torque at start-off to minimize chance of wheel-spin under acceleration and on slippery road surfaces.



The Lexus E-Four AWD system has situation-specific control including a yaw-rate control system for enhanced driving performance.



Lexus LA Auto Show Highlights



The all-new RC and RC F will be making a not so clean statement when the sleek looking luxury sports cars are shown in LA.

Lexus RC Family

The already released 2015 NX 300h on the other hand brings to the brand a far more practical compact CUV with typical Lexus luxury surrounds and the Camry’s Hybrid drivetrain. Lexus will also be pushing the NX200t turbocharged F-Sport with an L-mesh black grille integrated with a metallic coated lower bumper molding and black side mirrors. Unique alloys, interior materials, and trim and bolstered sports seats add to the F SPORT collection.



Lexus will also be showing off its LF-C2 concept, a 2+2 roadster, which is making its global debut.

After press days, the public will have the opportunity to drive the Oculus Rift RC F virtual driving simulator. I really do not know what that is. ;)
