Ford April 2015 Sales Up 5.4% with 222,498 Vehicles Sold

Ford April Sales Overview

Ford April U.S. sales of 222,498 vehicles was up 5.4 percent over the 211,126 sold in April of 2014. The company stated it was its best overall April sales results since April of 2006 with retail/fleet sales up 7 and 1 percent respectively.

Ford SUVs achieved an all-time April sales record.

Ford F-Series posted an April retail sales gain of 8 percent while overall sales were down 0.9 percent. Ford said they will be able to supply unfilled fleet orders once the recently upgraded Kansas City plant is under full production.

Ford April Sales Highlights

The Escape experienced sales of 25,770, up 4.8 percent over the 24,579 sold in April of 2014.

Mustang sales increased 81 percent, with 13,144 vehicles sold. This was Mustang’s best April sales since 2006.

Items of note: Honda swapped positions with Nissan for 5th and 6th place respectively. Mercedes and BMW swapped positions for 105th and 11th respectively. VW and Mazda swapped positions for 12th and 13th positions respectively.

The auto industry achieved its best April in 10 years with sales of approximately 1,454,000 vehicles, up 3.6 percent over last April. It is also the 14 straight year-over-year monthly gain.

The Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR) for April stands at 16.4 million with YTD SAAR at 16.6 million.

The industry is off to its best start since 2001 which was the second to last time the industry sold 17 million vehicles.
