I have a Honda Civic 2003 Hybrid with 169,000 miles. My check engine light is on and the IMA light came on. When the rechargeable battery went down to no bars and recharged , the check engine light and IMA light went off. For a few weeks they stay off. It came back on.
Usually, When I fill the tank with gas it does city 39 miles gallon . Few days later it drops to 20 miles per gallon. One mechanic told me I need a special terminal battery for Hybrid cars. He said my rechargeable battery is at 70 percent. I told him I changed the Terminal battery three times because the voltage was not being held . Another mechanic told me I need the rechargeable battery replaced because three cells are not good and my terminal battery is being over used because the IMA battery is not good. Does any one know why I am not consistently getting 39 miles a per gallon? Should I buy a special battery for Hybrid cars, get the rechargeable battery replaced or can I get recharged the bad cells if that is the problem, or try to find another reason for my car issues?
