2016 Toyota Tacoma Reveal Scheduled for the 2015 NAIAS

Details? I have none.

2016 Toyota Tacoma invisible trailer.

The Tacoma is scheduled to roll out to the press at the upcoming 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit Michigan. The all-new 2016 Tacoma hits the Toyota presentation stage at 12:50 p.m. EST, Monday Jan. 12.

For those who can’t wait for the dust to settle, Toyota released the embedded vid showing nothing too. ;)

Now for the speculation…

2016 Toyota Tacoma Drivetrain

Two engines more than likely and hopefully one is the highly regarded 2.5L out of the Camry. It had better be something because the current 2.7L cannot compete with the Big 3s full size lineup let alone the current Colorado/Canyon with their current 2.5Ls and upcoming 2.8L Duramax plus Nissan’s upcoming Frontiers with the Altima/Rogue 2.5L and possibly later a Cummins 2.8L TD.

Would it be a hoot if that 2.5L had a stick? 50 mpg should be possible if so!

2016 Toyota Tacoma Interior

I would bet it will be an even more modern RAV4 interior with the latest infotainment, sot touch materials, and modern layout as shown below.

2016 Toyota Tacoma Exterior

There are plenty of spy shots out there and from the outside, does it really matter? I suspect it will follow the Tundra’s new design DNA. Not good or bad, just is.

2016 Toyota Tacoma Safety

Toyota is not one to screw around here so expect it to have 8 + airbags (Crew Cab), Star safety system and standard rear view camera is almost a given. New would be the first pickup with advanced safety systems including Autobraking and radar cruise control with LKA and RCTA possibly?

2016 Toyota Tacoma Rear Tailgate Teaser

It is all speculation but it sure is nice to see a real update vs. the refresh updates the Tacoma has experienced over the past decade with little to no competition to push them.
