So my wife has decided to run a game of 5e. I literally haven't been a player in a game since my brother moved to Utah (he was the only other regular GM besides me in our group).
So now I go to make a character. And I just, I want to play everything.
I can't decide on a class, I can't decide on a race. I'm just staring and it all looks so good.
I've made 4 characters from beginning to end already. And I can't decide if any of them are ones I actually want to play, or more I want to play all of them (at least if my character dies, I have ready backups).
So how do you decide what to play when you get the chance to sit on the other side of the screen? I've thought about just waiting until everyone else makes characters and just picking up a role that wasn't covered, but I'm not sure at the moment.

How do you decide what to play? (character wise)
