What percentage of your campaigns have had an end date that was clearly predetermined at the start and everyone was aware of? Were people comfortable with the idea at first? Did they feel it had been worthwhile at the end?
I ask because I've encountered several people who just can't stand the idea. They feel like the potential to go on more or less indefinitely is vital to the pleasure of watching a character grow, even if it rarely works out in practice.
For my part, nowadays I sometimes find myself thinking it might be a better format given the constraints of adult scheduling.
