Our upcoming backup game is Mass Effect, which seems to draw pretty heavily on western militaries for its doctrines and structures. The Systems Alliance Marine Corps, seems pretty much based on the USMC.
In the game, there's an Alliance science team of around 10 people, headed by one of the PCs (who is also in command of the overall mission). For security, they have a squad of Alliance marines (five in total). They have combat mechs (ie robots) and drones to give them a force multiplier beyond their limited number of bodies (one of their number is a combat engineer who runs them).
In order to keep that squad functioning on an extended basis, what support staff would they need? I would guess as a minimum they'd need to have the following roles covered:
Is there anything else? To support a squad of this size, would each role require a dedicated person? Could any of those things be done remotely from off-site?
