I'm pretty happy with the artwork in the PHB, but I have noticed 3 or 4 pieces that are recycled, having appeared in at least one other publication. I have no beef with that at all. Good, evocative art is welcome wherever it might have been used before, in my book.
That being said, once I noticed and identified the first, I had to flip through the book with an eye toward finding retreads.
Here are the ones I noticed. If I noticed these, then surely there must be others I didn't notice.
The first one I noticed was the Druid with antler headdress and the tiger companion appeared in 4E's Primal Power.
The hydra battle tapestry that was called out somewhere as an easter egg (which seems like a stretch) previously appeared in Dragon #418.
The wizard blasting someone in the back with fire around page 205 previously appeared in Dragon #405.
Anybody notice any others?
