2015 Fiat 500e - $32,650 incl. D&H and better yet, $199 a month for 36 months with $999 up front and a class-leading 87 miles of AER.
Earlier this week Chrysler announced that the 2015 Fiat 500e is now available at FIAT studios in both California and Oregon for $199 a month over 36 months with $999 due at signing. Previously, 500e had been sold only in California as a compliance vehicle since 2013.
Of all the EVs I have driven to date, this one is the closet to providing fun with style and affordability.
Changes to the 2015 Fiat 500e include a redesigned center console with a new cup holder design and an additional, USB port. Two paint colors have been added for a total of seven.
500e Drivetrain
The 2014 Fiat 500es liquid-cooled/heated battery-electric drive system produces 111 hp and 147 lb.-ft of torque. The pack can be charged from a Level2 charger in less than four hours.
The 500e uses a blended braking strategy that combines both coasting and regenerative braking.
The position of its 24-kWh battery redistributes the cars front-to-rear weight ratio 57:43, compared with 64:36 for the conventionally powered Fiat 500. As a result, the car handles better as well.
Fiat 500e Alternative Transportation
As with the 2014, when 2015 500e owners need to drive beyond the vehicles range or need the carrying capability of a larger vehicle, the Fiat 500e retail plan provides an alternative transportation plan called the Fiat 500e Pass program.
The FIAT brand and Enterprise Holdings, owner and operator of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car, and National Car Rental brands will provide purchasers and lessees up to 12 days of alternate transportation each year for the first three years after purchase.
