Washington, D.C. – At the Washington Auto Show today, Nissan announced it has the largest U.S. manufacturing footprint and sales results since the company sold its first automobile in America in 1958. This includes all-time records for total sales of 1,386,895 vehicles, production of 947,558 vehicles and exports of 129,761 vehicles.

Adding to our Nissan December Sales Up 6.9% with 117,318 Vehicles Sold. Up 11.1% for the Year coverage, Nissan sold more than 1 million North American-produced vehicles in the U.S. for the first time, with total sales up 11.1 percent over the prior year. Another important piece of the company’s story is the fact they exported 129,761 vehicles, up 29 percent for the year and exceeded 1 million vehicles exported from its U.S. plants since production began some 31 years ago.

Nissan's Smyrna, Tenn. Vehicle Assembly Plant was the top-producing automotive assembly plant in North America with more than 648,000 vehicles produced in 2014!

Nissan total vehicle production in the U.S. grew 20 percent to more than 947,000 in 2014.

The addition of more than 9,000 new jobs since mid-2011 pushed the company's U.S. workforce to a record 22,000, including 16,000 manufacturing jobs.

Nissan's investment of more than $10.1 billion in its American operations was a significant factor in its record-setting performance in 2014. Over the 31 years of U.S. manufacturing, Nissan has produced 13.7 million vehicles, 7.6 million engines and 57,000 Li-Ion battery packs. It currently has two U.S. vehicle assembly plants capable of producing 1.14 million vehicles, and two powertrain plants with capacity to produce 1.65 million engines, 1.4 million forgings and 456,000 castings annually.

A friend of mine, David Kiley, in association with the 2015 Washington Auto Show helped setup a celebration drive entitled #MadeAcrossAmerica in which 14 U.S. Auto Manufacturers representing 43 U.S. assembly plants from across the region drove a sample of their products to Washington DC.

Nissan took part of this drive with employees from Nissan's two vehicle assembly plants driving a 2015 Rogue - now manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee - and all-new 2015 Murano - now manufactured in Canton, Mississippi - highlighting Nissan's contribution to U.S. jobs, economies, and communities across the American south.

Nissan is targeting having 85 percent of the vehicles it sells in the United States produced in North America by 2015.
