We’re still waiting for the highly anticipated Mazdaspeed 3, but Mazda is rolling out the next-best thing in the 2015 Mazda 3 lineup by pairing a six-speed manual transmission with the 3’s larger 2.5-liter engine. Mazda announced that this model was coming when the car first launched, and the company’s website now confirms this Mazda 3 s 6MT model as available on both sedan and hatchback versions of this compact car.
The manual transmission 3 s models are available in Touring and Grand Touring trim and achieve 26/35 mpg city/highway, slightly lower than the 2.5L automatic model’s 27/37 mpg. The 2.5-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder still produces 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, and the manual car weighs 40 lbs less than its automatic equivalent. 2015 Mazda 3 i models are still powered by a 155-hp, 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder with a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission....
