2015 Mazda2s 1.5L SKYACTIV-D turbo diesel engine - One of the most fuel efficient engines available possibly in the world.

Fresh off winning the Japan 2014-2015 Car of the Year, Mazda's Demio equipped with a newly-developed 1.5L SKYACTIV-D turbo diesel - Mazda2 here and most everywhere else – is now being produced at Mazda’s new Mazda de Mexico Vehicle Operation (MMVO) manufacturing facility.

MMVO's engine machining plant, which has been under construction since last year, has been completed and the plant began operations on October 21, 2014.

Mazda’s SKYACTIV engines, chassis’, and safety designs are enjoying strong demand globally with production capacity at MMVO adding 250,000 vehicles annually to Mazda’s new car supply by March 2016.

Mazda expects SKYACTIV equipped vehicles to comprise over 85 percent of its global sales by March of 2016.

The start of production of the all-new Mazda2 at MMVO, start of operations at the engine machining plant, and planned production capacity increase represent major steps forward. MMVO's engine machining plant adopts the same production technologies as Mazda's Hiroshima Plant, ensuring an engine parts processing line that is both efficient and capable of producing a diverse range of products.
