CUVs catching up to sedan efficiency from just a generation ago? Wow!

2015 Honda CR-V $24,150 to start in an LX FWD configuration (incl. D&H) while offering an excellent 27/34 mpgUS city/highway rating.
Fresh off of taking the 2015 MT Sport/Utility Of The Year award, the refreshed 2015 Honda CR-V is making headlines across the county thanks to a number of critical updates making it not only a competitive compact CUV but a class-leading one in many respects.
The addition of the Accords direct-injected 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque 2.4L i-VTEC I4 engine mated to one of the best continuously variable transmissions (CVT) available creates a powerful incentive to consider. Even more desirable is the CR-Vs ability to skip the pump with a 27/34/29 mpgUS city/highway/combined rating on all trims with FWD.
This drivetrain will not best the Luxury segments turbo diesels despite their lower EPA ratings but it might come close?
On the safety front, Hondas latest Sensing Safety and Driver Assistive features are also class-leading.
Regarding the MT award, the CR-V earned the accolade with its improved fuel economy and good driving dynamics, the debut of Honda Sensing safety and driver assistance technologies and the CR-V's excellent value for the $.

New for 2015
A redesigned interior further increases the CR-V's sophistication.
Exterior design changes, including re-styled front and rear bodywork, mirrors and wheels.
For 2015, the CR-V EX adds a 7-inch Display Audio, a 10-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, Honda LaneWatch, Proximity key with Push-Button Start, and LED DRLs.
A new top-of-the-line Touring trim includes the first Hondas most advanced driver-assistance technologies including Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Honda LaneWatch.
Add in its car-like interior comfort and smooth, quiet ride, and the enhanced and upgraded 2015 Honda CR-V once again sets a new benchmark for the competitive compact SUV segment.
The one item I did not see and that the CR-V desperately needed was new front seats. They were flat, hard, and uncomfortable after 30-minutes in them. For me anyway.
2015 Honda CR-V Infotainment
The 2015 CR-V includes Honda's new 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio touchscreen. Display Audio is standard on EX and above trims and like a smartphone, allows users to tap, pinch, and swipe to control audio and other functions. The next-generation HondaLink and the Honda Satellite-linked Navigation System is also available. All CR-Vs retain the full-color intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) that offers a range of customizable features via fingertip controls on the steering wheel. The CR-V's infotainment systems offer a high level of connectivity, including a standard Pandora internet interface and SMS text messaging function and Bluetooth HandsFreeLink phone interface. Of all the cars I have driven to date, the Accords infotainment system was the easiest to setup and use. I suspect the system included in the all-new CR-V is just as user friendly.
2015 Honda CR-V Chassis Upgrades
An updated suspension design with Vehicle Stability Assist and Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS) contribute to the 2015 CR-V's improved driving experience. The CR-V uses strut up front and a multi-link oput back with suspension tuning changes improves ride and handling.
2015 Honda CR-V Safety and Driver-Assist Tech
The CR-V's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure helps the CR-V disperse the energy of a frontal collision. Overall, the body receives more than 60 changes to improve stiffness and collision performance.
Standard on all trims is Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with Brake Assist (BA), front, side, and side curtains. The new Honda Sensing suite includes Honda LaneWatch Great system in the Accord and Civic!!! --, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). These systems benefit from the adoption of new sensor fusion technology that integrates the capabilities of a windshield-mounted monocular camera and millimeter wave radar to provide enhanced sensing with ability to identify and anticipate multiple collision scenarios, including a pedestrian collision, and initiate warnings and, in some cases, emergency braking.
2015 Honda CR-V Warranty
The 2015 Honda CR-V is covered by a 3-year/36,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and a somewhat weak 5-year/60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty. Honda Roadside Assistance provides free 24-hour roadside assistance during the 3-year/36,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty term. CR-Vs are manufactured at the Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio.
Better looking, more efficient, and still affordable. Honda kind of does that with all of their offerings. The refreshed CR-V is no different.
We will attempt to schedule a drive in one soon.
