I am posting this because even a Honda dealership could not help me much. The check engine light in my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid comes on; the IMA light comes on when the car is being driven, typically on a highway. After 2-3 days, upon starting the car cold, all systems seem normal and no lights come on. The lights comes back on after a couple of days. This process has repeated for over 6 months now.
The Honda dealership is unable to diagnose the problem. Their solution is to reset the system which makes the problem disappear for a couple of weeks. They would of course love to install a new IMA battery.
Through all this, the car engine shuts down as expected when the IMA battery is fully charged (even when the check engine light is on).
One other thing: the IMA battery charges rapidly and also discharges quite rapidly at non-regular intervals.
The car has just over 100K miles (and hence the IMA battery is out of warranty).
What are my options. I recently got a new 12-Vold battery installed but that did not help much (it did need replacement).
