Deep Dive into the All-new 2015 Ford Mondeo, 2016 Fusion Here?

A great overview of the 2016 Mondeo with multiple hints as to what the 2016 Fusion refresh might look, feel and ride like when it arrives here later this year. Pay particular attention to the design – Adaptive LEDs, LED DRLs turn signals, metal interior inlays, more rear seat room and 10-way adjustable massaging driver seat plus the chassis and suspension with torque vectoring, minimal lateral and more fore and aft movement linkage(s) and adaptive dampers. We will unfortunately not be receiving the Audi’esque A7 like 5-door hatch but the 4-door continues. Hopefully we receive the new suspension in the refresh.



2016 Ford Mondeo



The fifth generation all-new Ford Mondeo arrives in Europe with an even sleeker design and an even better driving dynamics. The current generation is already one of the best handling D-segments out there so expect something even better once it arrives.



Offered as five-door hatch, wagon and four-door in Europe – Four door sedan here – with the option of all-wheel-drive, all-new Mondeo debuts integral link rear suspension as well as Ford’s massage function-equipped multi-contour seats with Active Motion and Ford’s first adaptive LED headlights in Europe.



In Europe, Ford will equip all-new Mondeo with the 1.0L EcoBoost, a 184 hp 2.0L Hybrid drivetrain – a few total system hp shy of the current gen - produced for the first time exclusively in Europe, and 2 turbo diesel variants including a 2.0L TDCi. Both the hybrid and 2.0L TDCi will cost the same.



Last week, Ford started production of the all-new Ford Mondeo Hybrid. The Mondeo Hybrid combines an atkinsonized 2.0L gasoline engine with an electric motor and 1.4 kWh Li-Ion pack. Not sure if this is the current Fusion hybrid drivetrain or not?



The hybrid drivetrain will add to Ford’s range of energy efficient drivetrains offered in Europe including the slow selling Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi PHEV, hyper efficient ECOnetic turbo diesel and powerful small displacement EcoBoost engines.



First launched in 1993, the Mondeo has experienced more than 4.8 million sales in Europe.



The all-new model is produced at Ford’s Valencia, Spain facility, and goes on sale across Europe later this year. Gasoline fueled four-door variants will be built at Ford Sollers’ St. Petersburg Assembly Plant in Russia, where Mondeo will be sold.
