OEM fit strobes for the 2016 Ford Super Duty - $700 + no drill installation.

While the release was supposed to add a little fun with some Morse Code strobe play, the idea is worth a front page story on the safety front.

The 2015 incorporates Ford’s second-generation 440 hp and 860 lb.-ft. of torque 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel across all Super Duty models from F-250 to F-450. With competitors touting higher tow ratings, we can expect Ford to provide a wee bit more output for the 2016 model year.

Key innovations within the second generation 6.7L Power Stroke are its compacted graphite iron engine block and reverse-flow layout. This segment-exclusive design places the exhaust inside the engine’s V-shape with the air intake positioned on the outside, resulting in a variety of advancements:
  • Shorter airflow from the exhaust system to the new, larger turbocharger sitting between the engine’s cylinder banks improves turbo responsiveness – key to providing torque quickly to truck customers when they need it most

  • Positioning the turbo inside the engine’s valley helps isolate the engine’s hottest temperatures, improving performance and efficiency while also reducing noise, vibration and harshness to enhance driver comfort
Other upgrades include a larger turbocharger for increased airflow, resulting in more power. The compacted graphite iron engine block is stronger yet lighter than cast iron, is more wear-resistant, and has enhanced sealing properties.

A further benefit of the larger turbo was improved engine braking, manually controlled by a push-button switch on the dashboard. Extra braking power helps reduce wear and tear on wheel brakes and requires less manual brake application from the driver, especially on downhill grades.

New injector tips spray a higher flow of atomized fuel into the cylinders, which helps provide additional power, a more complete burn and reduced noise, vibration and harshness. Other benefits include lower emissions and less fuel deposit buildup on the intake valves over time.

What is new for 2016 however is a factory installed strobe kit.

Ford is offering an available factory-installed strobe warning LED light kit for all models of 2016 F-Series Super Duty trucks for customers – such as utility, road construction or municipal crews – that require enhanced vehicle visibility while working on-site. The no-drill option is warranted and not susceptible to corrosion issues that can be a result of poor aftermarket installation. The front- and rear-mounted amber-lens strobe lights that have been evaluated for any applicable regulations and industry standards, can be seen as far as 1,000 feet away during the day and as far as a mile away at night. The strobe lights installed on F-Series Super Duty trucks in use at worksites are designed to warn motorists and others that workers may be present and to proceed with caution.

The Strobe Kit features the following:
  • Forward-facing signals high-mounted with metal brackets at the rear edge of the hood for maximum visibility

  • Rear-facing signals are mounted on either side of the center highmounted stop lamp and provide up to 180 degrees of illumination

  • Replacement trim panel with pre-mounted on-off switch that fits into existing auxiliary switch port

  • Customer programmable flash-pattern capability to meet specific fleet requirements

  • Weather-resistant, durable, low-power LEDs

  • $700 MSRP; dealer installation fees may apply when purchased after vehicle sale

  • Serviceable at Ford dealerships nationwide and backed by a three year/36,000-mile limited warranty.

if you cannot see these strobes from a quarter mile back, you are probably asleep at the wheel.
